EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) & Energy EFT
What is EFT?
EFT - Emotional Freedom Techniques is a relatively new discovery and a fast-evolving treatment within the field of Energy Psychology which is catching the attention of many people.
These techniques work by releasing blockages in the energy system which are the source of emotional intensity and discomfort. In addition to challenging us emotionally, these blockages in our energy system often lead to limiting beliefs and behaviors and an inability to live happy and harmonious lives.
EFT is a common sense approach that draws its power from eastern discoveries that have been known for over 5,000 years. These ideas have been largely ignored by western healing practices. As they are unveiled in our current times, human understanding is remembering the forgotten truth that everything is energy and the potential that this offers us.
Since its beginning with Gary Craig in the 1990's, EFT has provided thousands of people with relief from all manner of problems and conditions, often in startlingly quick time. The diversity of successful treatments have ranged from trauma and abuse, phobias, self-sabotaging behavior patterns, to deep-set emotional conditions of anxiety and depression, addictions, physical illness, to name but a few.
Dr. Silvia Hartman has taken Gary Craig’s Classic EFT to the next level with the creation of Energy EFT. Whereas Classic EFT focused on neutralizing negative emotional intensity and discomfort, Energy EFT supports you to evolve your emotions: once the negative emotions are neutralized they are then transformed into positive emotions.
With Energy EFT you tap or touch lightly, balancing and energizing your energy system, clearing blockages as you go. The focus is on increasing the flow of energy through the system. As your energy flow increases you begin to feel more positive and energized.
Energy EFT is suitable for both beginners, energy workers in different modalities and also experienced EFT master practitioners and trainers wanting to increase their knowledge and understanding.
How does EFT work?
Working on its discovery statement set forth by Gary Craig:
"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."
EFT works to clear these disruptions and eliminate the resulting emotional response or intensity in order to restore emotional harmony and offer relief from physical discomfort.
This is done by focusing on the specific problem while tapping with fingers on the end points of energy meridians. The combination of sending kinetic energy to our energy system, whilst uncovering and focusing on root causes facilitates a flow of the energy system thereby eliminating the disruption/blockage to the body's learned response or negative emotion.
In Energy EFT, Silvia Hartman distinguishes the difference between EFT and acupressure “Unlike acupressure, you tap or touch very lightly, sending small energy pulses from your healing hands into your energy system, balancing and re-energizing it and clearing blockages as you go.” She goes on to say that “Another main difference between the EFT and acupuncture and acupressure is that you use your intention and focus to direct which particular problem you are working on. In energy work, energy flows where attention goes.”
