EFT for Reducing Anxiety and Cortisol Levels in First Time Pregnancy

 Research study published in the Unnhes Journal of Public ealth, January 31, 2018 proposed to assess the effectiveness of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to decrease anxiety in primiparous (first time) mothers.

 

The application of EFT was done in the third trimester, started and followed for 3 months: 7th, 8th & 9th.

 

The results proved that EFT contributed significantly 57% to lower anxiety levels and 43% to lower cortisol levels, indirectly affecting the readiness to the face childbirth process.

One hormone Davis has focused on is cortisol, which the body produces and passes through the placenta to the unborn child. “Cortisol plays an important role in regulating the maturation of the fetus, such as lung development,” says Davis. “These stress systems in the body aren’t just there to cause damage or harm us.”
